Why Prophecies Fail

Why Prophecies Fail

One of the difficult principles in the bible is the working principle of prophecy. And as a result of the common ignorance in the way prophecy works, many things God said concerning many people never came to pass. Some are even beginning to think that the whole prophecy thing is fake and unreliable. Yea, people have said their minds or even lied in the name of prophecy but prophecies are still true. You can also prophesy God's word to your life. But, we have a role to play to ensure prophecies come to pass.

God's will doesn't come to pass automatically. If you have ever studied the Bible very well, you will realize that some things God wished to happen never happens. If God has said something concerning your life, you have a role to play to ensure it comes to pass and if you fail to take a stand for its fulfillment, you will be disappointed that it never happened.

One of the stories in the Bible that illustrate this very well is the story in Daniel chapter 9. Verse 2 reads; 'in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.' While Daniel was studying the scripture, he discovered that Jeremiah (29:10) had already prophesied that Israel will only stay in Babylon for 70 years.

When Daniel made this discovery, the 70-year period of Israel's captivity was virtually over. As a result, Daniel began to fast and pray for himself and his people. He began to pray to ensure that Israel returns back to their land as Jeremiah had prophesied. Daniel knew that 'what gonna be, will not gonna be' unless someone takes it upon himself to ensure it comes to pass.

Every prophecy is a call to action. The delivery of prophetic words from the Lord is just the beginning. The fulfillment of the prophecy requires action from those that the word is directed to. Once the word is delivered, we become co-laborers with God to bring it to pass. This is very important because it most probably explains why some of the prophecies in your life have not come to pass.

You must align and take a position with God to make it happen. This alignment is achieved by first believing the prophecy and then standing in the place of prayer to ensure its fulfillment in your life. While you pray, you are likely to receive further instructions from the Lord on what you're expected to do or not to do for the fulfillment of the prophecy. Those instructions are very important in receiving the fulfillment of God's word in our lives. As you take steps in the direction the Lord instructs, you will receive more light that will guide you to continue to align your ways properly.

Learn to pray for the fulfillment of God's word in your life. Learn to pray fervently. So many wonderful things were spoken about Jesus before he was born and also when he was a baby. However, he had to fast for forty days and forty nights to ensure his ministry on earth is a success. Stop sleeping and snoring expecting God's word to come to pass in your life. Jesus said, 'but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.' (Matthew 13:25). Guard God's word in your life with everything you have. Be a great watchman. Position yourself properly, watch and pray until everything God has said concerning you comes to pass.
