Three Years Course

Three Years Course

A time comes when one has to change direction for a better tomorrow. Don't be afraid to take a new course, learn something new, leave a place, go back to school, change your ideas or do anything that better positions you in life. Many people stay stuck in life because for one reason or the other. They are afraid of leaving their comfort zone. But I have to tell you, there should be no comfort in a zone that limits us.

Many people constantly feel they would have made a change yesterday, and after many years they feel they should have made the same change the year before. Today I tell you, make that change. It doesn't matter how old or young you are. Maybe no one has ever gone back to school at your age, then be the first. Many people feel they are stuck where they are today. If you feel so, you don't have to stay trapped, stand up, and get out of that place. It may not seem that simple, but at least you can begin right away with an effective plan and process for the change that you desire.

Jesus met his disciples when they were already on a career path. Some of them might have spent their whole life before Jesus met them in different professions. Andrew, Peter, James, and John were fishermen, Matthew was a well-known tax collector, and I believe the rest were also in different other fields. Jesus came for them, and despite how tough it might have been for them to leave their professions then, they saw better prospects with Jesus and submitted themselves to a three years discipleship course. Some of them were already married but despite that, they managed to start something completely new.

My dear, positive change hardly comes easy but the benefits thereof far outweigh its cost. I know your job does not even give you the time to learn something new, but that excuse will be very irrelevant in the next few years. You would wish you had made a change earlier. Some people think their academic grade is a big limitation in their life. That should not be but if you think it is such a big limitation, I encourage you to go for another degree. Get another admission, start all over again, and make things right. It is better than spending the rest of your life complaining about your current status. Four years may seem like a long time to you now, but soon it would look like yesterday. Why not take that course, why not go for that admission, why not learn that trade, why not begin the process today.

A friend of mine after his NYSC in 2016 got a job in Lagos. Every day he spends several hours in traffic and on the job just to be paid an insignificant amount of money. A number of times, I felt quite terrible for him, but I knew the kind of person he was, very passionate about success and highly driven. In 2019, he told me that he wanted to go and learn a trade in Alaba International market. That seemed like a difficult one to me, but he did it. For many months, he was just like an ordinary apprentice in the market, serving someone and carrying goods like other boys. When his training period was over, he started his own. Today he is in such an enviable position, very successful and financially free. Each time I hear about his recent accomplishment, I see how important it is for one to refuse to be stuck anywhere.

What change do you need to make today? It may not seem easy but procrastination and fear may cost you far more in the future than what your fears are today. About five years ago, two of my secondary school friends felt like they should have gone to the University, they both enrolled for engineering and graduated recently. Many people would have wondered why Peter and the rest would agree to start a three-year course with Jesus in pursuit of purpose, but today these men remain one of the most influential people in the history of the world.
