How To Win Continuously
One of the stories that subtly reveals how to live a victorious life in the Bible is the story of Peter's denial of Jesus. Over the years, many have drawn different lessons from that. To some it shows anyone could fall, to some, it reveals the Devil is always trying to destroy important persons and to some others, the benefit is the restoration of Peter and Jesus' love. These are good lessons when viewed from the positive side but there is an often neglected part of the story that is capable of positioning you or anyone for a life of unending victory.
Before Peter denied Jesus, the Master had revealed to him what was coming. 'Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not:..' (Luke 22:31-32). Oh how much I have been blessed each time I read these words from Jesus. Jesus is such a great inspiration and to win consistently in life, you must learn from the one who conquered the grave.
What Jesus told Peter is very deep. First, the master revealed that the Devil was after Peter. However, he didn't tell Peter, 'I have bound the devil and cast him away, nothing will happen to you'. So many Christians would have responded this way to such a revelation but Jesus knew that the real problem is not the temptation of the Devil but the Faith of Peter. 'I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not'.
Nothing shapes a man's life like his faith. Faith is the key to a life of continuous, ever-increasing, and unending victory. It doesn't matter the nature of challenges that come your way, if your faith fails not, you will come out of it victoriously. One can hardly advance beyond his faith. It is what determines the course of a man's life. If you can develop the bible kind of faith, you will be a wonder. 'For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.' (1 John 5:4)
OUR FAITH! No matter what, never let your faith be taken away from you. When a man loses faith, he has almost nothing left. The Bible says, ' Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.' (Heb. 10:35). Don't focus so much on the Devil, or live a life of panic. No! If you remain strong in faith, you will surely win. No matter what fails, never allow your faith to fail for 'it is the victory that overcomes the world'. It is what separates winners from those who are always struggling in the kingdom.
The Bible says this about Abraham: 'Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.' (Romans 4:18-21)
'Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.' (Heb 11:1-2). Never let your faith fail no matter what.
'Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.' (1 Cor 16:13)
