How To Be Effective

How To Be Effective

God wants his people to be effective not just in ministry but in everything they do. He wants you to be effective in your business, academics, relationship, etc. His desire is for our faith to produce great and intended results. Contrary to this, many Christians struggle to make their faith work and they are getting very frustrated with their struggles. The painful truth about life is that one can actually die with gifts and talents without ever manifesting them. Even a Christian can die without producing God's intended result in his life and it is something you should fight not to be your story.

There is a way to become effective. There is something you can do to produce greater results in any area you're connected to. The first step is to have faith but faith alone cannot get things done. Many stop at the faith level and that limits their effectiveness. James said: 'You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.' (James 2:19) James made it clear that effectiveness cannot be produced with bare faith.

Peter wrote about this and outlines key things we should add to our faith to live a life of effectiveness and continuous victory. 'For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.' (2 Peter 1:5-7).

Peter said that we should make every effort. That is to say that we should do everything possible to add to our faith. And he mentioned things we should add: Goodness, Knowledge, Self-Control (Discipline), Perseverance, Godliness, and Love. According to the scriptures, 'if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.' (2 Peter 1:6).

I saw this a few years ago and I couldn't take my mind off it. I was looking for what I can do and be 100% sure it will change my life and when I saw that the scripture was very bold: 'If you do these things, you will neither be barren nor unfruitful (ineffective).' I told myself that there is nothing else I need. If only I can add these things to my life, I'm sure I will not be barren, I will not be ineffective, and I will not be unfruitful. I was super excited. Many things I've read were more about things I could try and hope it works, but this one says: if you do this, it is guaranteed to work. That was all I needed: something that is guaranteed to work.

My brothers and sisters, add to your faith. You're guaranteed to be effective if you do as Peter advised by adding all that is mentioned to your faith. Your faith will begin to produce the kind of results you want. If you have a challenge understanding what each word means, do more study on them and commit yourself to adding them to your life of faith. You're sure to become effective in whatever good course you're pursuing as a Christian.
